In the 1940s, Charles Garvin transformed it into a modest amusement destination, complete with pony rides, roller skating, a dance hall, and a swimming pool. Racing entered the scene in the 1950s, drawing regional attention that still fuels the park’s popularity today.

After a brief stint of ownership in the 1980s by a group that included country music artist Ronnie Milsap, the park found its footing again when Dallas and Alfreda Jones took the reins. They revived the park’s dragstrip and gradually expanded the entire operation, building it into the multifaceted destination it is today.
